CPF stands for Cadastro de Pessoa Fisica (Individual Taxpayer Registry). It is an 11-digit number issued by Brazil's Federal Revenue Service that uniquely identifies individuals for tax and civil purposes.
How are CPF check digits calculated?
CPF uses the Modulo 11 algorithm. The first check digit is calculated using weights 10 through 2, and the second uses weights 11 through 2. If the remainder of division by 11 is less than 2, the digit is 0; otherwise it is 11 minus the remainder.
